Bits for a Roberts R66 case...

I'm just cleaning up a decent R66, but need a couple of items...

1. Anyone got a catch for the back of the case? (see photo) - I suspect the same catch was used on lots of Roberts radios
   
2. Anyone got a strap? Long-shot, that!
   
3. Anyone got a "scrapper" case that I can salvage from?

You're right about the catch, these two sets are an R66 and an R250 Revival and as far as I can see the catches are almost identical. If all else fails the Roberts spares department might be able to help - I've heard for the most part only good things about them, but if there's a minimum order charge it may be forbidding.

I buy belts from charity shops or from a leather worker to replace the straps.

I've an R55 with the same catch too...

Lidl has wooden cases with that catch today. It's a set of two glasses and stones (alternate to ice cubes for literally whiskey on the rocks).

I've actually ordered one from Roberts Radio spares dept - they only have them in brass, but I have a nickel/zinc plating line for working on my Landrover - it'll look a bit tiny in a 10ltr bucket, but will come out with nice bright plating on it.

I couldn't find a chrome catch that looked right, but did find a brass one that's absolutely identical...

So I bright-zinc-plated it and then distressed it a bit so that it wasn't too shiny...

Photo shows the new replacement - at least the 4 pins are original!
