Lawrence.
Found the df meter in amongst a box of various old meters. I think I purchased them at a rally many moons ago.
Decided to test a few and throw out any duff ones. The meter works fine - although the 'D' connection has been snapped off flush to the case. I guess it can be replaced or a contact could be soldered in place.
Just need the rest of the Lancaster to go with it!
Got the receiver with DF section intact and unmodified, just need the meter.
It is possible to run an analog meter via a frequency divider without an astable, differentiate the output, clip the -ve and let the meter do the integration.

Mains transformer, choke, and line output transformer at 90 degrees.
The unit didnt have a line output transformer when I dusted it off. The original one had been removed and was slighty larger by the look of the mounting holes.

A line output transformer sounds more like part of a telly.
The black transformer does look very Phillips and very audio output.
Apologies , this is an audio output transformer.
I confused this with another unit I am looking at. It must be my age!
