For some reason I am unable to download that kind of attachments from GVR, all I get is a "queued" message, then after a while, "failed to download" don't see it anywhere else....

You suggest the problem is restricted to just PDFs, implying that other file types are OK - am I understanding you correctly? What browser are you using, and have you tried another? And is it the same for attachments that aren't in The Archive?

I'm usually using a phone or tablet, tablet is old, android 4.4.2 safari browser I think.

Normally only a problem if there are a lot of redirects or 50Mb+

Seems to have a problem with GVR attachments only?????

Parent may have done something clever , I will try other file types.

So that we can decide whether it's your account (something I need to fix), or your devices (something I can't), I'd say you need to try it on a PC running an up to date version of Firefox or Chrome.

The fact you're having trouble with archive.org as well as GVR suggests that your browser might be the problem. The trouble with Android is vendor-abandement, which means you're currently running an OS that dates from 2013. The internet has moved on a lot since then. I guess you're probably using Chrome, which is the usual default for Android. Safari is Apple's browser - I didn't think it was available for Android, certainly not officially from Apple. Other browsers are available, but often are little more than reskins for Chrome. I used to run Firefox before giving up on Android, and it looks like a recent version will run on 4.4.2: https://wiki.mozilla.org/Mobile/Platform...quirements

Support for Chrome on your OS stopped in January this year. That's a long time ago, relatively speaking.

Whatever browser you're using, if it's not been updated in recent months or weeks, then I'd be very cautious about carrying on with it. Most security problems - whatever the OS - start with browsers and email clients.

To get back to the subject of this thread-further checks on the 114 showed that it's L.O. is off by about 300-400kHz -the upper end of the MW band is at around 1300 kHz rather than the 1600 it's supposed to be. The alignment doesn't appear to have been tampered with, so my first suspects are the oscillator trimmer (which does have an effect on the frequency) an it's two parallel padder caps, one of which is 180pf, the other 47pf. The fact that the L.O. won't tune above about 1300kHz suggests to me that either there is too much capacitance present, or the inductance is too high, but why?? I can check the capacitors on one of those Chinese Testers, but not the inductance Any ideas, fellow members??

Don't think I've ever come across a capacitor that has increased in value!

I take it that this set uses permeability tuning? Are you sure that nobody has tampered with the oscillator core position?

I'd be inclined to mark the thread where the adjuster appears for reference and unscrew the core to see what happens. Are all the adjusters the same length? If the oscillator one is shorter than the other two, that would be a good indication.
