I didn't work for Yorkshire TV but I knew Phil Parker, the chief engineer at the time very well. His immediate problem was to get on air as soon as possible and he and his men phoned around everywhere to find a mast and get it installed, I can't remember the details but they found a mast (in Italy?) and a crew of erectors in East Europe and had a temporary mast up in a week. They worked on the temporary mast until the present tower was built and took over duties. This was in the days of people taking responsibility and acting without having to confer with committees etc. before getting on with the job.
