Running 2 different AV products at the same time isn't a good idea. They can fight like ferrets in a sack. Windows Defender will automatically get out of the way if you instal another AV program. Presumably it comes back if you uninstal Avast etc.

Yes Windows 10 security will automatically restart if no other anti virus program is found on the system.
As Windows security it is now very good I suggested uninstall Avast and just let Windows take care of itself.
