Greetings everyone,
I've just been to collect an old '50's Sobel T143 fixed frequenncy television receiver. The case is in very nice condition. I like the textured speaker cloth. I think we may have something similar for a while when I was a child.
I have not made any circuit measurements on it yet but it looks very clean although I see a few waxy capacitors and a lot of brown (paper?) capacitors which are probably shot.
I cant find any referece to it on the BVWS dvd but have found a partial schematic on this and another forum. Can anybody help me to find the full schematic please?
A quick look inside shows what looks like an untouched uner chassis but the selinium rectifier and some mains dropper sections are replacements. Cant wait to see if there is any life in it. One odd thing Ive noticed is that there is a mixture of 'P' and 'E' series valves in it. (Ef80, ECL80, PL80, PY80 etc)
This set is so old it pre-dates dual band turrt tuners, it is fixed frequency, possibly TRF. There is a label on the chassis tells which frequency it is tuned to.
I'm going to have a close look now.
Kind regards, David.
