There has been recent discussion about the merits of doing valve testing at all but there can be no doubt that a tester can be useful for certain applications. Notably fully fledged measuing of chracteristics and curve tracing, something that can only be done by a very few vintage units. It's an obvious area for computer assistance and some have built the uTracer:

This is undoubtedly a well thought out and capable design and I'm thinking of getting one for myself.
i've just come across a much simpler and cheaper design. Does anyone know about it? how does it compare with the uTracer?
