Been reading up a bit on this technology, it sounds interesting and is obviously the future, I have found this link helpful in explaining how it all works:

Anyone up to speed with this stuff.....I was wondering if aerial in to I & Q out (and thence to sound card) could be done with valves and off the shelf double balanced mixers or am I missing something really fundamental to SDR. Any thoughts?
