Interesting discussion. I've an FTdx-10 & FT991A, My FT-818ND is up for sale.

I'm eyeing an FT-710 but with SDR making big inroads I do wonder if the transceiver market will go the same as computers: There is so much functionaility build in that last years model may be outdated this year or next year. I certainly would not think of buying a rig without a spectrum display.

You'd need a microscope to see a spectrum scope on an FT-817/8
