The HMV 902 was released in 1937 so therefore it was marketed as a 405 line only receiver. No requirement for reception of the 240/25 Baird system. The Emiscope CRT was a 9" type positioned vertically inside the cabinet and viewed through a 45 degree mirror and a front mounted magnifying lens.
In 1938 the 902 underwent extensive modifications in order that a direct viewing 12" CRT could be fitted. This involved more powerful timebases because of the wider scanning angle of the new CRT. I believe the CRT was the same type as used in studio monitors, Emiscope 6/7. The set was renamed as model 902A. It was the first TV set to employ the KT44 line output valve.
