More interesting posts from Mark and Trevor.
To me its much ado about an item I think I dont really need. You will have picked up that its my wife saying we should get a Smart phone each and get away from flip Gran... phones. So I got the Xiomi I have been trying to set up and have now decided it will take up too much of my time to maintain two of them. There seems so little time as I get older as I'm slower and now the garden and DIY is calling and I have real electronics to get on with. So I have put a pink case on it and made it a present to her. Just hoping she wont go down to many pathways so I have to fix it
. For me I will stick with the Doro.
Was on holiday recently and have thought what did the Smart phone do for me that the Doro couldn't? About all was being able to check in at the airport to come home. No big asset though as I had paid to reserve seats and I still had to queue like everyone else to lose bags and be final checked.
The Smart phone can take fairly good pictures but no where as good as my compact Panasonic particularly on telephoto. And for News I always have my 12 year old Kindle and a contract for the Daily Telegraph. It was a walking holiday and I walk 20 to 30 miles a week at home and there the Doro scores as its so compact and weighs nothing. Yes! at home I wont be carrying a camera but not in to taking pictures as I know the area backwards.
Have given myself a new problem with the Xiomi as I was trying to put all the most useful Icons on the start up screen by sliding them sideways: tricky. In a mistake I went right, with the K9 one, instead of left and it put it on a new screen. Tried the light finger, with and without a beer, but couldnt get it back so deleted the App. Now I cant reload it as I have password problems. Yes! me not making decent notes as I set things up but possibly the tap tap encourage it. Do better when I work on old radios.
But thanks to all for the help and maybe reading some of my bleating's
