Install K-9 Mail from Playstore if wanting IMAP or POP3 rather than Webmail
The built in Mail on Android just gives all the settings to a Google server which is then a privacy busting proxy. A silent use of Gmail.

I just got a "new to me" Android Phone yesterday, an Oppo A16 a few months old in CEX. Two year g'tee. Dual SIM, my 256G SD works and not locked to any provider. Got Fibre last week and phone tests at 400 Mbps+ on the WiFi! Everything on cables has been 1Gbps for ages.
