My main station receiver is an Eddystone 830, which, I think is probably, sufficiently complex to meet the ctriteria in Gary's post: 15 valves, 9 bands and 2 IFs. Mine is an early version with the "benefit" of a 100SC2 vari-cap diode in the BFO; later versions used a conventional tuning capacitor. As with all Eddys it has a wonderfully smooth tuning action and has a good bandspread.
I do have other receivers which I rotate in use but this is my favourite.
