My old boss at one of the ITV companies worked in OB's in the early part of his career. One day out on a Church OB they needed to get a particularly heavy camera into a very awkward position very high up somewhere in the internals of the church roof. The riggers did not think it possible given the very narrow and somewhat precarious stairs that needed to be climbed to get access.
My old boss took the camera off it's pedestal, somehow strapped it on his back and climbed up with it into the recesses much to everyone's amazement!
He was I believe an ex-WW2 commando and known thereafter as 'the Cockleshell hero'.
