The Jason JTV and the following JTV2 switched FM and TV sound tuners were both self-powered, and both were available in Jason (built) and Jasonkit (kitset) forms, with different cases but as far as I know, essentially the same internals. (Sometimes, the Jason and Jasonkit variants with the same name had somewhat different circuitry, as with the FMT3 FM tuner.)
The JTV2 circuitry, more-or-less, was also used for a pair of more compact, non-self-powered units, namely the Jason Monitor and Jasonkit Mercury 2. These superseded respectively the Jason Prefect and Jasonkit Mercury switched FM tuners, Jason’s argument being that there was little to be gained in offering both FM-TV Sound and FM-only switched tuner ranges.
The original JTV had what was tantamount to a Jason “local area” circuit, with two IF stages. Given that it was superseded by the JTV2 fairly early on (within about a year or so), it is reasonable to infer that it might not have been fully developed. The JTV2 had more of a Jason “fringe area” type circuit, with three IF stages, and survived, in both Jason and Jasonkit form, until the eventual demise of Jason UK somewhere around 1966-67. (I think that Jason France might have survived for somewhat longer.)
