We had a gun from a 9" monitor tube here that had its neck broken
I took the opportunity to learn: the cathode was a Short tube as in a small valve, but with the end closed and coated, the subsequent electrodes were a series of tubular sleeves, and discs with tiny holes in them. It all looked very precisely made
