Questions about the cost of the project are very legitimate. Unfortunately, transport fees and the repair price are very unstable. Therefore, you can only work with intervals. In my opinion, the amount above is enough.
I have a few more thoughts on CRT regeneration:
- experience and a supply of new electron guns are needed for this process. Both are hard to achieve. Apart from the former Soviet Union, I do not think any new electron guns have survived anywhere in the world. Therefore, the workshop I am writing about will probably remain the only one where the old picture tube can be revived.
- Soviet radar tubes are a good source of replacements for CRT. They come in different versions. Unfortunately, their price sometimes exceeds the value of a television set. Everyone has to answer the question what amount they want to spend in order to see the picture on an old TV. The cost of the radar tube is lower than the regeneration of the old one
- In my country you can still buy old 14 "rectangular TV sets for about £ 100. The round picture tube only had one TV model from 1956. It was 31LK2B. The current cost of such a TV is £ 400. Unfortunately, most of them have a damaged picture tube. A few years ago it was possible to buy a radar replacement at local auctions for £ 10, but there are no such offers anymore.
