No unfortunately as there is very little clearance between the rearmost EF50 and the focus assembly. The chassis has a central hole for the spigot and there are nine holes drilled in the chassis for the nine pins with the existing base directly below the chassis. The valve is flush with the chassis. To mount a replacement base it will have to be fitted from underneath so the valves don't sit too high. In fact retro fitting EF80's would be easier in some respects but I need to keep the set as near as original as possible, at least on the upper chassis.
The last B16T I did didn't have this issue, its corrosion of the tags that are now paper thin. I'm hoping the RF unit is OK, replacing bases in there is not really an option and would probably render the set scrap. Fingers crossed that the RF unit is OK.
