Peter, it was a 900, not a 901. I don't remember if it had a lock. AFAIK it had always belonged to EMI. When I first saw it, the cabinet had been refinished to a very high standard. I don't remember about a lock or any other deatails.
A colleague had restored the electronics but the CRT was very weak indeed. From what I remember the CRT heater was fed from a separate transformer since the old one's winding had an insulation fault. I put the CRT through a rebuild as documented in an article on my website. I was also instrumental in getting an ex-BBC CO6/509 625 to 405 converter. I think T-EMI paid £1000 for it. I collected it from Crystal Palace. Don't remember what we used as a modulator. Might have been Dave Looser's or my own design.
I subsequently collected another CO6/509 from CP for the VIntage WIreless Museum. That was a donation
