I'm always wary of the TV24 as the bulb of the CRT just sits on the wooden cut out, if the only clamp round the gun assembly isn't tight enough the tube can slide forward and implode as the neck gets stressed.
The duck tape holds it securely when working on the set, although when recapping etc the tube is sat on the floor. The 12 inch tubes are considerably heavier than the 9 inch ones.
