The first reference in the Setmakers book is on page 74 and talks about their battery eliminator. It then says in 1924 Eric Kirkham Cole was making Ekco receivers.
He made 6 receivers a week with just two of a staff, this was in Westcliff-on-sea

Note how EKCO is typed on company paperwork
