I used the expanding foam that comes in a aerosol can.
I first folded some blankets placed them in a bin bag and put them in the bottom of the box I was using. I folded a piece of cardboard over the EHT connector of the tube to prevent the connector getting stuck in the foam. The card board was held in place with tape. I rolled up more cardboard and placed it around the tube neck. This was to keep the foam away from the neck. So that if the tube got any knocks in transit the foam wouldn't put any pressure on the tube neck.
A bin bag was placed around the tube and cardboard. With the card board sticking out the open end of the bag. The tube was placed face down on the blankets. The tube rim was not resting fully on the blankets so I packed some bubble wrap around the rim to prevent the foam getting in front of the tube face. Then it was just a matter of filling up the box with foam. I mixed in polystyrene foam to bulk out the expanding foam. The top of the box was closed with a hole cut in the center of it to leave the bin bag and cardboard around the neck sticking out.
The neck ended about two inches below the top of the box
When the foam was set the cardboard around the tube neck was removed. Turned the box upside down. Opened the bottom of it and removed the blankets and bubble wrap. I cut open the bin bag to reveal the tube face. Next I laid several layers of cling film across the tube face and up the sides of the box. So when the block at the bottom of the box was poured I wouldn't stick to the tube or the box.
Expanding foam was poured over the cling film. Then some more cling film was placed over the expanding foam. The bottom of the box was closed temporary and the foam allowed to set.
I over did the foam and the bottom of the box bulged out. So when the foam was set I removed the foam block from the box and cut off the excess with a saw. And that was it.
I think the foam may have expanded some more maybe in transit. As I did partially remove the tube from the foam before pouring the block and it did lift out quite easily. Or what may have happened was when the block was expanding it may have forced the tube into the foam.
