My advice from years repairing is simply refit the transformer back as the original was connected. Don't do it differently, the original worked as it should and the replacement should do the same so long as you have noted down where the connections went and you have refitted them as was.
Please let's not confuse the OP with this.
Question to Bushbaby. Have you wired the new transformer exactly the same way as the original and if not why and what way have you changed the wiring?
