Doing telecine on camera negative isn't trivial. Partly because of the wide dynamic range of negative film, especially when it hasn't been graded for printing. I think that noise and phosphor grain are a problem too with flying spot telecine.
Reversal film is a different thing altogether. Kodachrome and Ektachrome slide film are examples. During processing there is often a 2nd exposure.
