I used to work in a place that suffered dreadful carpet static.
It was always when there was an urgent job that someone forgot.
Me in the repair department got it when called by the dispatch lady at her desk at the far end of the open plan office.
She calls me on the bench phone because a job has become more urgent so that the paperwork can't wait to the end of the day and me being in a hurry go and give her the paperwork. Snap screech I had forgotten to elbow the filing cabinets to discharge myself. I had it when returning to the bench. The spark took out 7 bipolar transistors and for some strange electrostatic reason did not blow the big gold top CMOS chip at the other end of the board.
