In the mid 1970s I bought a 25inch regunned tube as replacement for a Thorn3000 Tv. I did the replacement in the lounge of my house. I removed the chassis and put the TV face down on the carpet. I removed the 4 nuts holding the old tube in place. For safety reasons I put on goggles. I then proceded to lift the old tube out of the Tv and I stuck my thumb in the EHT socket.
OUCH. I had not lifted the tube out when it happened but it did make my hand shake for several minutes! I learned the hard way and from that day on always made sure I had discharged the tube before going anywhere near the EHT.
