It's explained in many articles. Usually each stick is about 50V. Sometimes other colours of LED other than the violet/blue (plus yellow phosphor all LED lamps have) are interspersed to improve rendition.
They are more honestly rated by some makers than most LED / CFLs and give a more diffuse light than the LEDs with a few high power chips.
There are a few with 6 sticks and 8 sticks that are more than 60W equivalent. However the "60W" equivalent 4 stick ones give better reading / working light than other type LED or CFL. They also are in the ES and BC "mirrored spot lamp" package identical in size to the regular lamp. They make a very nice reading or work lamp.
Most on mine are warm 2700K, but I have one that's a slightly harsh 4000K.
I've Osram, Philips, Solus and Status brands.
Some are "dimmable" (the Philips I have) and some not.
I may try a couple of the high power ones in the Kitchem but they are €16 each. The cheapest were maybe €3 each.
It's curious to see a current specified on a lamp, 35mA for the 4W Osram with four angled sticks. Claimed to be 220V to 240V, 470 lm and 15,000 hrs. Not Dimmable.
My experience of lamps with electronic PSUs or electronic Ballasts is that they rarely reach a fraction of run time due to electronics failure.
Unlike filaments and LEDs with SMPSU and CFL/Tubes already on, most go out at once during a brownout. Not seen what the Philips "dimmable" does as we've not had a brownout since, nor have I a dimmer. I must take the base apart on one.
Some articles claim helium and others hydrogen filled to conduct/convect heat, certainly the glass bulb feels warm. The phosphors will last longer than the high power LED chip coatings.
