I've carefully glued the pcb track back on an resoldered the 20uF mains cap (I assume that it is?) back on. I checked its esr beforehand and gave a reading of 0.34R . The main hum is now minimal. Tried with my 72 Telecaster Thinline reissue......I take it back, its LOUD. Its very much a British amp, super clean. I've had it just over half volume before I was moaned at that it was too loud by the better half. Therefore I've yet another amp to work with.
Andy - you have concerned me over the power transformer. What do recommend that I should do to with regard to the cathode resistors? I've the same issue with my 68 Fender Bronco amp which I am sure is running too hot. I followed the 'Uncle Doug' Youtube video and he upped the resistor to lower the power to the 6V6 in this case. Do you recommend I should so the same ? In the Uncle Doug case, he increased the cathode resistor to reduce the plate voltage bringing the power output of the valve down - that should make it sound much better.
