Most modern low power resistors are metal film. Some are carbon film. All are stable. The only caveats are maximum working voltage, notably for physically small parts, and inability to tolerate high surge currents. Neither will be a problem in a car radio. Also the spiral element of most film resistors gives them slightly higher inductance than carbon composition. This is rarely a problem.
You will have to search hard to find new carbon composition resistors these days.
