Hi.
Well you firstly have to think of man made faults. Were there any pieces of insulating material that could have been overlooked or misplaced in the set? Did you run the set with the covers on, did you press on the case while running the set to make sure no shorts appeared during this test, did you give the completed repair a good shake in case of a rogue screw in the set?
A faulty electric aerial should blow the fuse not make it smoke!
Finally a bouncer should be covered by the repairer and over the years on the few I had I'd not incur the customer any expense and would go to the customer to either sort out or uplift the item.
Being fair not being able to drive nor have transport to me is not a good idea in a service industry.
