Ok, back in the saddle so to speak.
Pictures of the start.
I did say it was dirty.
Carefully levered the glass scale out to find rubble underneath and stuck between the glass and the felt backing, ouch! The glass has a bottom corner chipped but it won't show when it is in, the screen printing on the back remarkably is OK despite the rocks.
The overnight oil did the business, with a freshly ground screwdriver the remaining two knob grub screws submitted and the knobs are all off.
To remove the chassis the tuning pointer carriage has to be disconnected from the wire drive, the bottom foil connection has to be taken off the chassis, speaker disconnected and 4 bolts underneath removed.
Mmmm, plenty more rubble under the chassis.
Time to clean the cabinet out and find a metal piece, U shaped, in the rubbish. Is it part of the set?
More in next post.
