I can only speculate as to the circuit configuration as I don't have the details on this unit and have never seen a circuit diagram for this type of equipment. From a physical examination there are 16 paralleled TO3 cased power transistors across the load terminals so it seems that they are being used as a variable resistance across the load terminals by virtue of varying the base bias with a precise, calibrated driver. It can load in steady state or with a square wave or external programming. The heatsinks are massive and there is forced air cooling, not surprising when the dissipation is considered !
The only details I have are in a PDF, don't know how to include that here.
Despite much effort I have been unsuccessful in finding a user manual, well, without having to pay for one anyway ! So I may have to bite the bullet in this case ! Although I shouldn't complain, this is my bargain of the century so far, units of similar capacity can go for many hundreds if not into the thousands to buy !
