Consumer Rights Act gives you significant rights up to 6 years from purchase. If it was bought from a decent place such as John Lewis or Argos there's normally no problem enforcing your rights. Alas little hope now after you've been inside it.

A few years ago I helped a friend with an 18 month old faulty TV get a repalcement from Argos. All it took was a well worded letter showing that she knew her legal rights.
