I made a temporary test fuse link with a strand of wire the same thickness as the original.
Put a small amount of water in a bowl and gave it a 5 second test, the water was definitely warm.
So it looks like the original fuse was weak.
The microwave is only just out of its 1st year guarantee, what a pity something like this can go wrong, normally the microwave would probably have been dumped.
New fuses look to be about £10 from UK supplier and £3.5 from China.
