The FPGA would be relatively easy to repalce with a more modern part. FPGAs aren't going away in a hurry and transferring the design on to a newer part is a nuisance rather than impossible.
The 2 main hazards are the modulator chips which are already obsolete and getting harder to buy and the decoder which although not in any trouble at present could easily be obsolete within 10 years. The modulators are the same as in the Aurora. I understand that Darryl has a stockpile which is likely to last for any likely future production.
