If you're using a flow battery for grid scale or other staitc storage then bulk and weight hardly matter if it works well otherwise. It's one of the more promising grid scale storage solutions which ought to be a better long term bet than masses of lithium batteries. For vehicles the issue is energy density. Current flow batteries aren't designed to be lightweight so if they can crack that they could well have a winner.
