I really think Chrysler could have sorted the problem easily. Very few OHV engines suffered this issue, some Fords did as did the OHV Volvo 140 series.
There were some brilliant OHV engines, the BMC "A" series, Renault from the R8 to R16, 903cc Fiat units and of course the Skoda alloy block/cast iron head units, all of the aforementioned and many others that were well designed and reliable.
