Why, thank you Rob. By publishing my work, I certainly wasn't intending to dishearten anyone and their own efforts. Nevertheless, the 'essential ingredients' were as follows:
1. Experience. I'm in my early 60's now; I started 'doing' electronics when I was about 10 years of age and have been 'doing it' all my working life.
2. Availability of time: these days that's less of a problem than when I was in full-time employment.
3. Availability of parts: I have a very large 'junk box'.
4. Availability of equipment: nothing particularly special here: usual mechanical tools and electrical / electronic test equipment.
and finally:
5. Having the 3 P's: patience, perseverance & persistance.
My thanks must also go to our member Mark Henessey, who kindly provided me with the front panel 4mm. terminals.
