May not be affordable to you but there is a huge company car market and lots of people are buying new cars via PCP. I don't know if the present usage of PCP is sutainable but it seems you can get a pretty luxurious motor for the price of something ordinary. Presumably this is because the likes of Mercedes, BMW etc series have lower depreciation over 3 years than their more mass market equivalents.
With the glut of 3 year old cars coming on the market at the end of their PCP terms I can see that something might go horribly wrong. More for the companies that offer PCP than the individual motorists.
