Yes the textbooks will tell you a car battery is not the best for low load use. In practice you'd be hard pressed to notice any real issues unless the battery was fully discharged. With solar keeping the battery charged up there won't be a problem especially in summer.
Get the biggest capacity battery you can and if buying second hand get a decent make and as new as possible.
