NWM, you have some very peculiar ideas... and they are not ones I agree with.
Lots of radio amateurs still use morse code and would find it laughable that YOU call them eccentric !

If you have an interest in amateur radio I suggest you join a local club as that's the best way to find out what's going on in your area.
As for parts and second-hand rigs you should go to one of the rallies that are held across the country during the year where many bargains can be had.
