I used a 5K pot because that was the only wirewound one I had, but easy enough to change if I find a higher value! Tried a 10K one, but it was scratchy.
AA cells would only give me bias in 1.5 Volt steps. With the pot, I can have anything from 0 to 12!
I am now searching my "junk" for an anode current meter, but may just use a cheap digital one permanently wired in. The screen current may as well be with switch & test points.
