They do have a cord grip (of sorts, anyway) - it's the same as that used in a BC lampholder. In the picture you posted, it's not been wired properly. Those 'Clix' plugs are fine, if you wire them correctly! No worse than old light switches where the top cover just screwed on to a thread around the dolly.
It's what it came with, probable that has not been used in many years. I would like to use it so it will get a new plug, three core flex, a proper strain relief grommet, and an internal fuse. I have to do pat tests on the stuff I use in the workshop and it has to at least pass as class one for insurance purposes. Some health and safety is a fag, But.....
