Thanks for the last link. It does seem to contain the valves that I am most interested in. I have just tested a number of EF39 pentodes and they have all come out between 50 and 90%, so it finally appears to be working OK. All I have to do now is to make up some neater jump leads to go between my valve-holder panel and the connection box that I made for it. Also, must label all the sockets properly.
I am very grateful for the help of everyone who came in with advice on the project. I have wanted a valve tester for years, but was not very keen on paying out hundreds of pounds on "unknown quantities." This one cost me £65, so I consider it a bargain, as I have never seen any for that low a price.
