Hi Alan, yes nice motor, silent and little vibration. It came with the round front myford reversing switch which I never used. This motor was replaced by a 3 phase Italian motor and an ABB 3 phase inverter and controller. So far I,ve built 0 locomotives and 0 steam engines but I do have a set of castings for a Stuart 10!.
Sean, before you decide on which motor to use, have a look at www.inverterdrive supermarket. You might find its not that dear to buy a 3 phase motor and controller. My offer still stands though. PS My motor weighs 10.7 Kgs
