Record Players I've owned over the years

I never owned a suitcase type recordplayer (except for wind-ups!). However, I went to school in Camberley and there was a component shop near the station which sold BIII converters and the like and also record player cabinets and turntables. We had a youth club which we ran (no adults!) and we needed music so I decided to buy a cabinet and Collaro autochanger and make suitable amplifier - a very empirical design using an EF91 and an EL91 which were valves I happened to have. I can't remember any details except I used a Tannoy 6" round industrial LS and boy, was it loud! We danced to that unit in quite a large hall for three years (5th and 6th form) and it gave no problems - one of my more successful projects (at least I finished it). Of course we had to supply cold drinks and we put a crate of Coke (say) on the stage with a saucer for the money. We always sold out and there was never a shortfall in the takings - can you imagine that happening today?
