These are lovely sets Mark; I have a 80005VBT model. Mine was kindly given to me a few years ago. I was having problems with my AVO Mk1 VCM and was given a phone number of a guy in Leeds who was an expert on valve testers with a warning that this guy suffered fools with disdain.
I rang him and his name was Henry Cavnagh; right from the start we hit it it off and became friends; Henry helped out with the VCM problem and Bronwyn and I would occasionally visit him where we were always made most welcome.
It was with deep sadness that a couple of years after first meeting Henry we received a phone call to say Henry had suddenly died. Before his death Henry very generously gave me four radios saying his interest was in valve testers and these radios were taking up space. One was the Zenith and Henry even went to the trouble of visiting his local library to have the circuit diagram enlarged also he told me the set only required one new valve the others all being NOS; I bought the required valve from Dr. Roy Golden in America quite cheaply including shipping.
I then bought new black Rexine and fully recovered the cabinet using hot hide glue; the chassis is in very poor condition and I did attempt repairs but it is a pig of a chassis to work on unaided by the circuit diagram which I found difficult to follow unlike the well known "Trader" diagrams. I will get it working one of these days.
Henry refused to accept anything for these radios so as he didn't own a computer I was delighted to download him lots of information posting it to him and he would keep me up to date on his projects with many phone calls; we both liked Henry a great deal and miss him he was a good friend and a very decent guy.
