I have got a pair of mono block amplifiers that have an input for a dynamic microphone with an extra gain stage and it works fine with an MP3 player using a 33 ohm resistor in parallel with the input.
The gram terminals on a domestic radio are for a high output crystal gram pick up and are unlikely to have enough gain to do what you are asking of the set.
