The frequency of oscillation is typically in the order of 10's (sometimes 100s) of kHz - a good overview of the general approach can be found in this ST Application Note - http://www.st.com/web/en/resource/techni...003902.pdf
Rectifying them is generally not a good plan - they rely on the RMS value being correct only...
