Hi,
A special thank you to Colin for supplying me the link allowing me to sort out this phone problem.
As I've stated previously Bron and I have been very loyal customers of firstly NTL and currently Virgin Media until three weeks ago when our Virgin Media land-line expired. Since then the problem just escalated the way such problems do ending up with me taking it to the top office.
We are now once again loyal customers of Virgin Media; the third technician visited us this afternoon and this time he being a senior technician really went to town upgrading everything we have regarding Virgin Media; our old NTL router plus other small boxes were well out of date so all is now brand new and boy what a revelation this is. The technician also sorted out our Wi-Fi connecting us to the network but I need to play around with this but we are advised in our circumstances not to bother with Wi-Fi for our TV and we have been advised to buy two new connection items to make better use of the massive speed we now have.
We have been very kindly upgraded to 50Mb/s FOC and my computer is blisteringly fast; this speed once connect to our TV will make streaming a breeze so I'll report back once I've got it set up.
I confess this problem had rattled me and I was so near to adopting BT but fortunately with me being so stubborn I won through in the end; Virgin Media service this afternoon has been absolutely first class as it was previously until this phone problem cropped up.
Whilst the technician was finishing off we even received a delightful phone call from "head office" checking if everything was now to our satisfaction?
This thread has thrown up some interesting replies and I found David's Wi-Fi explanation most helpful so thanks for this David. I did not phone to get this problem sorted getting it sorted via email only.
Credit where credit is due Virgin Media are once again tops with Bron and me and we will once again highly recommend them. A picture of the latest speed test is shown below; by not throwing in the towel it all came right in the end so it pays to persist; it worked for us.
Hope you are now sorted Colin with your mobile? Good luck.
(WOW; I just added the picture in a blink; fantastic; as David would put it; I have my happy face on).
Just had a quick look; these are the recommended plugs which we were advised to buy;
